One arrested on extortion charges, Orgs demands stringent action

PASIGHAT, July 2: In an alarming case of extortion, one Pranab Yangfo was arrested on Saturday by Pasighat Police from Aalo. The arrested person was remanded to judicial custody at Pasighat.

Acting on a complaint filed by Pasighat PWD Division, Executive Engineer, Tameng Jamoh on July 1, police quickly tracked Yangfo at Aalo and informed Aalo police. Subsequently Pranab Yangfo, Sama Yangfo and the driver of the Ford Endeavour they were traveling in were detained at Aalo and brought to Pasighat on July 2.

Officer in Charge, Police Station Pasighat, Atan Taki informed that a case has been filed under 384/34 IPC and the accused is lodged in judicial custody. The four other persons who had accompanied Yangfo during the extortion would be brought to Pasighat from Naharlagun. The four are college students, added the OC.

Further, police informed that the cell phone of Sama Yangfo has been confiscated for investigation of his connection in the case, while the driver has been let off.

According to the FIR, a group of boys led by Pranab Yangfo visited Jamoh at his home at Mirku, Pasighat on June 25, 2016 and demanded for arranging Rs.50 lakhs. Interestingly, Yangfo introduced the group of youths as surrendered militants and volunteers of Chief Minister, while demanding the money as their expenses.

The demand made was later lessened to Rs.20 lakhs, to which also Jamoh expressed inability to give. Yangfo also stated that many officers have helped him and his team to the tune of Rs.70 to Rs.80 lakhs. The extortionist also added that money from the department works could be adjusted as the Chief Engineer and govt will not object to it.

Threatening Jamoh of severe consequences, Yangfo said that he could do anything as the government was with him and jail was home for his boys. Before leaving, Rs.1 lakh was taken from Jamoh as immediate expenses. The rest of the amount was demanded to be deposited in a bank account number-32008698588.

Under pressure and fearing for his family, Jamoh deposited Rs.5 lakhs in the given account number. On the evening of June 26, Yangfo on phone enquired about the money and started abusing Jamoh knowing that only Rs.5 lakhs was deposited. After that threatening SMS were sent to Jamoh and harassed by which he switched off the phone. Then on June 29, Yangfo and two accomplices in search of Jamoh went to his office and residence, while Jamoh did not go back to his residence fearing of getting kidnapped or physically harmed. The extortionist again came to Jamoh’s house on June 30 enquiring about him, after which the complaint was made to the police.

Meanwhile, various organizations have vehemently condemned the incident and demanded the authority for proper investigation into the incident.

The Arunachal Pradesh Engineers Service Association (APESA) has strongly condemned the alleged extortion from the EE, PWD Pasighat Division. In a message, APESA stated that it stands firmly behind Jamoh in the fight for justice. APESA also appealed state govt and law enforcing authorities to take prompt action and secure peaceful work environment. Further, APESA has also appealed to the engineers’ fraternity to report such cases, if any, without any fear and hesitation so that action is taken against culprits of such forceful demands and extortions.

Terming the incident as a criminal case concerned to certain individuals, Adi Baane Kebang has appealed all sections of the society not to take it in a communal way.

ABK East Siang, unit and Adiland & Upright Peoples’ Organization have submitted separate petition to the East Siang district magistrate demanding strict action against the extortion case.

The Adiland & Upright Peoples’ Organization has also demanded the district administration to intensify checking of vehicles in and around Pasighat so that any miscreant or criminal cannot enter with lethal weapons or other incriminating items etc.

Condemning the incident, Legong Banggo Employees Forum stated that such serious crime will discourage the employees from work. It also appealed all in the state to refrain from such act and extend cooperation to the employees in dispensing their duties effectively.

Further, BROS stated such anti-social and inhuman acts derail peace and communal harmony, and deserve condemnation from all sections of the society. Further it added that the connection of high profile politicians and bureaucrats of the state behind the incident cannot be ruled out.

State government sources said that the Home Ministry is taking up the issue and has instructed the police to conduct proper investigation into the case.

Bhalukpong landslide death toll rises to 10

ITANAGAR, July 2: Five more bodies were recovered on Saturday morning from the debris, taking the death toll from Bhalukpong landslide to 10.

The bodies recovered on Saturday were identified as Pinky Boro (40), Niki Boro (10), Angel Lenuo Solo (9 months), Jwala Chetri (7) and Mili Chetry (40).

The landslide, triggered by torrential rain, killed five people and injured four others on Friday.

All the 10 bodies were handed over to the family members and relatives of the deceased after completing the legal formalities.

The injured persons, who were admitted at CHC Bhalukpong, were shifted to Tezpur, Assam for better treatment.

The rescue operation, which was suspended last evening, resumed at the break of the dawn and the five bodies were recovered.

Although the search operations have ended, the services of NDRF have been retained for another day. It would take few more days to clear all the debris. Major landslides have also been reported on BCT road in between Bhalukpong and Bomdila.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop has initiated evacuation of people dwelling in low lying areas.

According to an official report, the torrential rain has caused substantial damage to a school building, circuit house and storehouses of four government departments besides flooding the local police station.

This is the second major landslide in the state this year. On April 22, 15 labourers and a supervisor were killed after a landslide buried their camp near a private hotel construction site at Phamla in Tawang district.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Kameng Dolo on Saturday visited the landslide affected site to take stock of situation.

Sharing his pain and sorrow with injured persons and family members of deceased, Dolo advised the people to avoid rampant earth cutting as the soil structures are very prone to landslide.

Offering his deep condolences to the affected family members and relatives, Dolo assured that state government would provide all necessary assistance to the victims as per norms. Dolo also informed that he along wih Chief Minister Kalikho Pul would visit Bhalukpong again.

Dolo appreciated the district and police administration and NDRF team for their quick response to the incidents and asked them to take care of the affected families.

MLAs Japu Deru and Kumsi Sidisow also inspected the areas where the landslide occurred.

Earlier in the morning, Divisional Commissioner (West) Belatee Pertin took stock of the affected sites and also visited the injured persons in the health centre.

Expressing deep shock over the incident, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has urged the State Government to provide adequate relief and medical assistance to those affected and injured in the incident.

The party wished speedy and full recovery to all those injured people and also prayed to eternal peace of the departed souls.

RWD, Agriculture, Labour & Employment Minister Kumar Waii expressed deep shock after hearing the tragic incident, which took away the lives of 10 people, including the family of a RWD staff Hiren Barman, his wife Durga Barman and daughter Rina Barman and left several others injured.

On this tragic moment, I express my deepest condolences for all the people, who lost their lives in the landslide as well as my sincere sympathies for all those who have been affected,” Waii said.

This landslide has once again reminded us of the importance of disaster preparedness/prevention education and the need for taking mid-term and long-term measures to support the afflicted areas, he said.

Prez condoles deaths in landslides

New Delhi, July 2: President Pranab Mukherjee today condoled the loss of lives due to landslides in Arunachal Pradesh.

"In his message, the President said that he was deeply saddened that the landslides triggered by heavy rains yesterday in Arunachal Pradesh caused loss of lives, injuries and damage to property," an official statement said.

He asked the state government and other authorities to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families who have lost their near and dear ones as well as medical assistance to the injured, it added. PTI

Centre assures fund for medical college in state

NEW DELHI, July 2: The Central Govt has assured the Arunachal Pradesh Govt for immediate sanctioning of funds for establishment of state's first medical college at Naharlagun. The Centre also gave its nod for establishment of one more medical college at Tezu.

The assurance came when Chief Minister Kalikho Pul called on Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda at his office in Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi to apprise him on the need to improve the ailing health scenario in the state.

Seeking support for establishment for one more medical college to be established at Tezu, Pul said that it would give improved access to quality health care and medical education for eastern part of the state.

Tezu being strategically located in the eastern zone, a medical college here would not only be used for civilian purposes but would also be useful for armed forces and paramilitary forces and can be of use during eventuality of armed conflict and wars, the CM observed.

Further, the Chief Minister sought support for establishment of Nursing college at Itanagar. He also asked for establishment of two more Nursing schools at Bomdila and Tezu to which the Union Minister agreed to provide funding for Nursing schools and college.

To help state government in its effort to improve the health care facilities, Health Minister Nadda agreed on one-time support for infrastructure, procurement of medicines, equipment etc. He agreed for a financial assistance of Rs 83 crore to help the state in making all the health institutes to be made fully functional.

Also the Union Minister agreed to revise the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefits if need be, a welfare scheme aimed at meeting extra costs of living due to health ailments or disability. (PRO, CM)

Flying squad conducts checking drive, seizes tobacco products

YUPIA, Jul 02: Team of Flying Squads constituted to ensure strict implementation of Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003 (COTPA) on Saturday conducted intensive checking drive at various shops/gumtis within the area of 100 metres from schools in Capital Complex and seized tobacco products from many small shops.

The flying squad raided shops near Govt. Higher Secondary School, Konkan Nalla, Naharlagun Market Complex, Tomo Riba State Hospital and KV-I School Complex and found selling various tobacco products in many small gummites near GHSS Konkan Nalla and public Bus Station.

The team let them off with a warning.

Simultaneously, the team also sensitized the shopkeepers and hoteliers on COPTA and urged them to abide the rules and regulations.

COPTA 2003 ( The Cigarette or other Tobacco Product ( Prohibition of advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) is an act of Parliament of India enacted in 2003 to prohibit advertisement and regulations of the tobacco products business in India.

The Act prohibits smoking of tobacco in public places, except in special smoking zones in hotels, restaurants and airports and open spaces. Places where smoking is restricted include auditoriums, movie theatres, hospitals, public transport (aircraft, buses, trains, metros, monorails, taxis,) and their related facilities (airports, bus stands/stations, railway stations), restaurants, hotels, bars, pubs, amusement centres, offices (government and private), libraries, courts, post offices, markets, shopping malls, canteens, refreshment rooms, banquet halls, discothèques, coffee houses, educational institutions and parks. Smoking is allowed on roads, inside one's home or vehicle. The meaning of open space has been extended to mean such spaces which is visited by public, and includes open auditorium, stadium, bus stand.

The Act also prohibits advertisement of tobacco products including cigarettes.

Tobacco products cannot be sold to person below the age of 18 years, and in places within 100 metres radius from the outer boundary of educational institutions.

The Act also gives power to any police officer, not below the rank of a sub-inspector or any officer of State Food or Drug Administration or any other officer, holding the equivalent rank being not below the rank of Sub-Inspector of Police for search and seizure of premises where tobacco products are produced, stored or sold,

A fine up to Rs. 200 can be imposed for smoking in public place, selling tobacco products to minors, or selling tobacco products within a radius of 100 metres from any educational institution. DIPRO

CM calls for action against erring govt. staff

ITANAGAR, July 2: In his effort to curb corrupt practices prevailing in some Govt departments Chief Minister Kalikho Pul has requested the Deputy Chief Minister (Home) to take appropriate action against Govt. employees found indulging in such corrupt practices.

Recently, during his visit to the Arunachal Armed Police Batallion (AAPBn) at Chimpu on June 25 last in connection with the shifting of personnel of Motor Traffic Office, Naharlagun to new accommodation at AAPBn Campus Chimpu, Chief Minister had received complaints regarding collection of money by the Commandant of the 1st AAP Battalion, Chimpu from police personnel residing in the campus for maintenance of the dilapidated main approach road that runs through the campus.

Chief Minister while calling it unfortunate that almost 30 years old road has been lying in a state of total disrepair and neglect and needed immediate maintenance, however stated that the act of the Senior Police Officer to collect money from Police Personnel is an act of misdemeanour.

He noted that though there was no malafide intention of the Officer and proper records have been maintained for the amount so collected, the act of collection of money for such purpose itself contravenes all existing govt. procedures.

The Officer should have intimated the matter to the Govt through the police authorities for taking up maintenance work, CM avers.

As the said officer has taken unilateral decision for fund collection thereby violating the established govt norms, the Chief Minister have asked the Deputy Chief Minister (Home) to initiate appropriate action and also to give direction to return the collected amount to the police personnel.

Chief Minister also requested the Deputy Chief Minister (PWD) to take up the repair and maintenance work of the dilapidated approach road that runs through the AAPBn campus at Chimpu on priority basis. (PRO, CM)

CS puts emphasis on Orchid cultivation, beautification of Capital city

ITANAGAR, July 2: State Chief Secretary Shakuntala D. Gamlin today emphasized on the need to popularize orchid farming in large scale as an alternate source of income generation with maximum involvement of society. She asked the Forest department to create an Orchid Research Centre at Itanagar with adequate manpower to facilitate maximum supply of orchid seedlings to locals.

Addressing a coordination meeting of Govt officers of various departments on research and development of orchid in the state in the conference hall of State Forest Research Institute (SFRI) at Chimpu, Gamlin, while citing examples of booming orchid markets in South-East Asian countries, said “we must avail the favourable climatic condition and vast fertile area our state for orchid farming.

Taking keen interest on the revival of the defunct Orchid Society of Arunachal, the Chief Secretary stressed on enhancing green coverage and beautification of twin Capital city of Itanagar-Naharlagun. She asked the Forest, PWD, UD, IMC and District Administration to co-ordinate and ensure safe upkeep of such plantations. Informing that the state Govt is planning to develop Itanagar as smart city and model town, she also advised to enhance scenic beauty of all the parks particularly IG Park, Itanagar and MG Park, Naharlagun.

Tilling Dolley, MD, Nana-koo Agro Prvt. Ltd., Hapoli also spoke on the occasion and shared his experiences on orchid farming and flori-culture.

ABVKA’s Vision Document released

ITANAGAR, July 2: The ‘Vision Document for the Janjatis (STs) of Bharat (India)’ and ‘Vision Document for North Eastern Region of Bharat (India)’ covering all priority sectors prepared by Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram (ABVKA), the parent body of Arunachal Vikas Parishad was released by Speaker Wangki Lowang in an impressive function at Banquet hall here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Wangki Lowang stated that the initiative of developing the Vision Document would definitely bring out the expected results in the coming years.

Referring to the prime suggestions of the Vision Document, he said that the government should have done it very long ago. He appealed to the central government to develop Arunachal as a model state and to take measures to strengthen invaluable tribal values, culture and traditions for the posterity.

He also suggested for a uniform education system all over the country to create better understanding and inculcate a sense of nationalism among all the people nationwide.

The document focuses on the various issues faced by the tribal communities, especially of the Arunachal Pradesh and the other communities of the North East, he said and hoped its suggestions would be definitely looked into with top most priority.

Addressing on the occasion, Chief Secretary Shakunatala D Gamlin stated that the Vision Document is in the larger interest of the State.

“Our society needs to have a debate why the constitutional provisions for tribals are not materialized. Sustainable development must be ensured by exploring and exploiting the resources in our areas. We must not miss this opportunity to turn our society into a well sustained society,” she said.

The CS also said that she will strive for development of rail, road and airports and to make Arunachal Pradesh as an Organic state so that the agricultural and horticultural products reach the international markets benefitting the local farmers.

Stating that dam technology has gone further ahead, she urged the people not to be apprehensive of the dam bursts but should tap its benefits. The Chief Secretary hoped the Vision Documents would definitely serve as a source of reference in formulating govt. programmes and policies.

Earlier, in his keynote address, All India Joint General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram Vishnukant highlighted the various issues related to the tribal people of the state.

Highlighting the various issues related to the Vision Document, he asserted that the document is not an administrative guideline, but a reference for prioritization. He opined that only certain service projects by govt. or other organizations shall not solve the perennial issues of the tribal communities, but there must be a clear vision, dissemination of the required information, prioritization of the measures and a strong will power among the stakeholders to bring the required permanent solution.

He also referred to the royalty issues regarding the resources in the tribal inhabited areas and informed that the efforts of his organization led to policy intervention which has facilitated mobilization of a huge fund of more than Rs 60000 through such royalties for the welfare of tribal communities, which is even more than the total budget of the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

While referring to the Hydro power projects in Arunachal Pradesh, Vishnukant said that although his organization hasn’t any objections to various other dams being planned on the Lohit river, it is much concerned about the Parashuram Kund project as this holy place and its festivals serve as links to rest of the country. He appealed to the state govt to develop Parasuram Kund in lines of religious tourism.

He opined that the dams must be constructed taking into account the fragile ecological situation of the region.

Tayum Tok, Executive member of AVP state unit gave a PowerPoint presentation on the key points of the Vision Document with some important recommendations as per local needs of the state.

Among others, RGU VC Prof Tamo Mibang, MLAs Tesam Pongte and Tamar Murtem, former IFSCAP Presidents Taba Hare and Nabam Atum and leaders of the various socio cultural organizations attended the function.

ABVKA conducted a series of seminars at different levels all over the country to develop the Vision Document. Eminent scholars from various fields, such as leading universities, legal experts, social service sectors, Bureaucrats, Techno-crates and NGOs have participated in those seminars. From Arunachal, 8 scholars had attended the national level workshop at Mumbai. It covers the sectors of Education, Health, Water management, Forests, Mining, Administration, and Reservation policies.

Implementation of NSTFDC schemes reviewed

ITANAGAR, July 2: The Zonal In-Charge of National Schedule Tribe Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC), Guwahati Neeva Boro visited AP State Coop. Apex Bank Ltd, HO. Naharlagun and reviewed the implementation of concessional Interest Term Loan under NSTFDC scheme for weaker section financed through the Apex Bank.

She interacted with the bank officials and branch managers of the bank and advised them to go as per laid down guidelines of the scheme.

The MD of Apex Bank highlighted various problems encountered while implementing the schemes due to lack of infrastructures and difficult geographical terrain coupled with adverse climatic conditions.

However, he informed that the Bank is trying to implement the Schemes in letter and spirit with the support of State Govt. machineries. He also confirmed that more than 50% Schemes has been implemented and the remaining Schemes will be completed by September 30 this year.

Boro also visited the beneficiaries at Ziro valley and personally interacted with the beneficiaries.

After the field visit, she expressed her satisfaction with the process of selection of beneficiaries and implementation at ground level. She also appreciated the problem being faced by the Bank due to difficult terrains and hostile climatic conditions. She advised to implement the remaining Schemes at the earliest.

CM decides to stop sending teachers on deputation

ITANAGAR, July 2: To revamp the education system in the state, Chief Minister Kalikho Pul has decided to stop sending teachers on deputation to other departments.

He instructed to call back those teachers deputed as OSD and all other administrative posts to the education department in order to do away with the shortage of teachers in various schools across the state, an official communique said here today.

Pul reiterated that the teacher's deputed to various departments should simultaneously teach in schools too.

He also directed to revert out of turn promotion of teachers in the education department.

The chief minister took the decision at a meeting with the representatives of All Arunachal Pradesh SSA Teachers' Association at New Delhi yesterday, the communique added. PTI

ITANAGAR, July 2: Indian Medical Association (IMA), Arunachal State Branch in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Doctors Association (APDA) and Sanatra Health Care celebrated Doctors Day by felicitating eight renowned doctors of the state in a function organized at Banquet Hall here on Friday.

Dr. Kartik Nishing, Dr. Gyati Tatu, Dr. Hage Tam, Dr.Hage Tabyo, Dr. S. Nath, Dr. Khairuz Zaman, Dr. Takop Zirdo, Dr. Mari Basar were felicitated for their outstanding contribution and services to the medical profession.

The APDA Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on retired DHS Dr.Hage Lodor.

On the occasion, Dr.Pradip Kumar Sharma, Consultant (Rhematologist) of GNRCH, Guwahati presented a paper on ‘Diagnosis and Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis’ while Dr.Kipa Specialist TRSH Tubing Eye presented a paper on 'Diabetic Retinopathy emergent diseases of blindness.”

MLA Dr.Mohesh Chai and Secretary RK Mission Hospital Itanagar Rev.Swami Vishweshananda attended the programme.

Earlier, celebration started in the morning with voluntary blood donation camp and screening of diabetic retinopathy at TRSH and RKMH. A CME Programme was organized in the afternoon.

‘Open defecation free Lohit by end of 2016’

TEZU, July 2: Lohit District Administration has set target to make the district free from open defecation by the end of this year.

A meeting was held in this regard at Lohit Deputy Commissioner's Office chamber here on Friday and District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) has been entrusted to explore the possibility of constructing low cost toilets.

Besides, ways and means were explored in the meeting to abolish the practice of open defecation and make Lohit an open defecation free district by the end of this year.

Around 30 toilets have already been constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission within a month in those areas under Tezu circle, where the unhygienic practice of open defecation is still widely prevalent.

Lohit district surrounded by numerous rivers is frequently hit by floods during the summer and have to bear the worst consequence of unhygienic sanitation practices (open defecation). This practice not only creates an unhygienic atmosphere but also invites many water-borne diseases. DIPRO

AASSATA meets Rijiju

ITANAGAR, July 2: The All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (AASSATA) on Friday met MoS Home Kiren Rijiju and reiterated its demand for batch wise regularization of the SSA teachers.

The association also demanded for implementation of SSA-RTE Act as per revised norms for teachers, enhancement of SSA teachers’ salary and early payment of two months pending salary of February and March, it informed in a release.

AASSATA further informed that the MoS has assured of looking into the demands.

New SDO office inaugurated

ZIRO, July 2: Ziro Hapoli MLA Tage Taki on Saturday inaugurated the new SDO Office in a simple function at Old Ziro.

Speaking on the occasion, Taki called for development of infrastructure in a planned manner. He said Govt establishments should at least be accessible by motorable road. Haphazard development of infrastructures in and around Ziro in the past decade has left many unusable, which is a total wastage of government funds, Taki observed and directed the HoDs to consult him before selecting the sites for construction.

Lauding the efforts of the Deputy Commissioner Kemo Lollen and SDO in-charge Mokar Riba in functionalizing the SDO office which was notified way back in 2013, Taki said that a unified effort alone can make the SDO office full fledged, which is temporally housed in the Circuit house, Old Ziro.

With its abundant natural beauty and pleasant weather, Ziro is the choicest destination of tourists from within the state and outside, the MLA said and called upon the people of Ziro valley work hard for overall development to attract more tourists in the area.

While responding to the four-point memorandum submitted by Kalung Lento, he informed that the ring road at Old Ziro has been included in the SIDF and allotments expected this year.

Regarding establishment of Police station, sub-division offices of important work departments and installation of high mast towers at Old Ziro, Taki assured to take up the matter with the concerned authorities.

In his address Deputy Commissioner Kemo Lollen advised the officers and officials of the SDO office to perform their duty from the new SDO office and avoid the practice of camp offices. The office should serve its sole purpose of catering to the official needs of people from Hija, Tajang, Bulla, Dutta and Hari villages who had to travel 8kms for small official works earlier, he said.

SDO incharge Mokar Riba in his address assured to provide a good administrative setup for the public under its jurisdiction.

Ex-MLA Nani Rebia also spoke on the occasion.

As a part of the program umbrellas were also distributed to all the Goan Buris and Gaon buras present in the function.

Special outreach prog by Agriculture Dept.

AALO, Jul 2: A Special Outreach Programme on ill effects of excessive use of weedicides and pesticides was conducted at Kombo-Jirdin village recently by the office of the Deputy Director Agriculture West Siang.

The team of officers under Deputy Director, Agriculture Tomi Basar dealt in details about the key topics.

During the technical session ADO J. Jini explained in details on ill effect of excessive use of weedicides and pesticides in crop field and its health hazards.

ADOs N. Loya and J Yomcha informed the farmers about Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna (PMKSY) and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bhima Yojana (PMFBY) schemes.

ADO Yompe Ado advised farmers to take maximum benefit of these schemes and urged them to practice sustainable agriculture and preserve bio-diversity for future generation.

More than 120 farmers took part in the programme.

Earlier, similar programme was conducted at Kombo-Pomte by Department of Agriculture in which more than 150 farmers participated.

DC emphasizes on sports calendar, promotion of sports through DSA

AALO, Jul 2: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu, who also is the chairman of District Sports Association (DSA) emphasized on the need of sports calendar to avoid clash of events.

Addressing a meeting held here on Friday to reconstitute the DSA, Ligu said that it was very encouraging to see that various associations and bodies are coming up for different sports. He, however, advised them to know the rules and guidelines that govern them. He stressed on promoting sports activities in the district through DSA.

The outgoing DSA Secretary Gego Doji outlined various major games and sports activities in the district headquarters and various pockets during his tenure. He disclosed that DSA has been rendering 33 long years of service to promote various sports activities in the district. DIPRO

Avenue plantation

ROING, Jul 2: More than 200 saplings were planted along the Roing-Santipur NH 37 near the Kangkong Village under the avenue plantation programme organized by the ‘Green Kangkong’- a group working for clean environment. Besides the members of Green Kangkong, villagers including senior citizens of the Kangkong village participated in the plantation programme. (DIPRO, Roing)

AKDDSU provide relief to fire victim

ITANAGAR, Jul 2: The dwelling house of Yukar Palong was gutted in a fire at Six Mile, Itanagar.

The victim, who originally hails from Tali of Kra Daadi district was presently living at Six Mile, informed All kra Daadi District Students Union.

The union visited the victim family and provided relief materials to them. AKDDSU further appealed to the state govt. to provide relief and assistance to the victim family.
